Huzzah!

Score! I finished my sweater. I put buttons on over the weekend. I actually might take in the sides a little more, but it's essentially done. Pictures:

I'm not sure yet what my next project will be. I'm debating between a wallet and a dress. Hmm...

Part Two of the Maiden Voyage

This weekend I worked more on my 3-button sweater. Here's what I did:

Here I have taken in the arms, so they aren't humongous anymore, and also put darts in the shoulders, so they sit where they're supposed to, and not halfway down my bicep. Next, I pinned the fabric across the front where it will sit when I wear it, and drew on button holes.

So, my mom did the button holes for me (I know, it's cheating. Give me a break, I've used the sewing machine like, 3 times...). After we cut them open, I dyed the sweater purple. I actually ended up doing two rounds of dyeing because I didn't like the color it turned out the first time. That's what it looks like now; buttons are going on later.

Here We Go...

Okay. So I went to Goodwill (and also Walmart) the other day. I forgot to take pictures of everything I got, so those will come later. My first project (probably a mistake, as this is my maiden voyage of upcycling) is a 3-button sweatshirt. Here's the tutorial I'm following.

Okay. So I bought a cheap, oversized, gray sweatshirt from Walmart.

It looks like this.

Then, I unpicked and removed the pockets, and cut out the zipper.

Next time I have time, I will take in the arms, dart the shoulders, and create button holes. I also plan on dying it purple, because gray is boring. I need to get some fun buttons too.

Other projects for the near future include a casual dress (perhaps), and a wallet made from a tie. I'll post tutorials when I start working on them. That is all. Have a lovely day!
